Facebook’s new policy bans deepfakes from the platform

Facebook plans to prohibit users from posting deep fakes, or videos manipulated to show people doing or saying something they didn’t. The move is intended to stop the spread of misinformation on the social network ahead of the 2020 US election. The new rules, however, don’t cover videos manipulated for parody or satire or those edited ’solely to omit or change the order of words.’

Ignoring so-called "shallow fakes" seems to be missing the point. This is like saying the murderer couldn't have contacted his accomplice because you didn't see any smoke signals in his yard.
