World’s worst measles outbreak kills 6,000 in DR Congo

The number of people killed by a measles epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo has passed 6,000, WHO said as it warned that more funds are needed to save lives during the world’s worst outbreak of the infectious disease. $27.6 million has been mobilized to curb the epidemic, WHO said that $40 million is needed for a six-month plan to vaccinate older children between the ages of 6 and 14.
