Suspect in Hanukkah stabbing rampage indicted on additional hate crime charges

The Hanukkah stabbing suspect, Grafton Thomas, 37, was indicted on five additional hate crime charges by a federal grand jury in New York Thursday, for his alleged involvement in a machete attack at a rabbi’s home in December. Thomas now faces a total of 10 federal hate crime counts. Each count carries a potential sentence of life in prison.

this guy should get charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder but I don't believe in hate crimes a person should be charged for the crimes that they committed and not because of the motivation behind it. when you charge someone with a hate crime that crime then becomes political for example I know a few weeks back someone was convicted for burning a LGBT flag and instead of getting a fine or what should have been no more than a year in jail he got sentence to 16 years because people saw it as a hate crime.
