Tonnes of fish dead due to high level pollution in Lebanese lake

Lake Qaraoun in Lebanon has been a graveyard to more than 40 tons of dead fishes. According to a veteran water expert, this dreadful incident was because of severe water pollution. But officials haven’t ruled out a disease. A preliminary report said a virus had killed only carp in the lake. Fisherman Mahmoud Afif called this a disaster, and added he hasn’t witnessed anything like this before.

This is what wnviromentalists should be concerned about. You wreck water bodies and then it’s only a matter of time before you end up with ecological collapse of some note.

General population really don't care about ocean pollution and overfishing. Not enough to adjust they're lives in any kind of way anyway

So they don’t know the cause at this point and it is all speculation. Whatever it is it seems to have only affected carp. No conclusion should be made until they have a definitive answer.
