Stardust revealed as oldest solid material on earth

Scientists have identified particles from a long-dead star found inside a meteorite that fell to Earth in the 1960s as the oldest solid material ever discovered. The grains were found in the Murchison meteorite that fell in Victoria, Australia, in 1969. The stardust is estimated to have formed up to seven billion years ago.
