2019 was the second-warmest year ever, says NASA

The year 2019 was the second-warmest ever recorded on Earth, trailing only the year 2016, according to NASA and NOAA. The average global temperature in 2019 was 1.1C above pre-industrial levels, creeping towards a globally agreed limit after which major changes to life on Earth are expected. The 2010s averaged 14.7 C worldwide, or 0.8 C higher than the 20th-century average.

Warmest on record according to the BBC by the look of it. In Australia the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has been caught deleting records far back as the early 1900s and late 1800s in order post our current heat as the hottest on record. So do you really believe these figures?

Most people agree that climate change is a thing. That doesn't mean we should destroy our economy while China and India do what they want.

According to NOAA data, the US was about 1/4 degree warmer than normal in 2019. I downloaded all of the data for the US, put it in a nice relational database into a SQL server (78 million rows).

The warmest on record, when the records go back about 200 years, and the planet is 4.3 billion years. But I'm sure we have enough data to make sweeping predictions of the future...

"They" can claim that, but every year of the last 10 has been cooler than the one before in Montana. Everything has a cycle.

The science is there, we can stop wasting so much and invest in better renewable technologies, etc. boost our economy, conserve energy, etc. All these climate change deniers and climate change cultists can fuck off though. I don’t want to deal with both sides of your ignorance and hate for each other.

Another way to say this is, the warmest since records began (in an accurate, scientific, vetted, cross referenced, none political, digging into the meaning and checking for all possible errors kind of way). realistically we have had the computational mechanisms (computers) for less that 50 years that can handle the complexity of predicting weather trends and patterns, but let's be generous and say 100 years, ok so in the last 100 years we think the earth has warmed up by 2-3 degrees C max?! And we are saying this is NOT a natural cyclical trend that we have recovered from litterally millions of times over? Ok millennial.... Try not to be a climate c*#t ppl, were basically guessing that this is not ok at this point, follow the fkn money if you wanna know who really gains. Also wind farm basically decimate the avian population in any install area, nuclear is the ONLY answer.

Regardless of the *why* and *how much* the climate may be changing, adapting is going to be far easier (and useful) than terraforming the planet. Even if we had the means to play God and control the climate, should we? And what particular climate at which particular period of Earth's billions of years of history will we declare is the correct climate? And who are to be the climate winners and losers? Who are the decision makers?.. why them not someone else? Of course these questions don't apply to the modern day climate politics, because modern day climate politics shows that it isnt actually concerned with the climate or environment because it doesn't care about China or India, doesn't like nuclear power, oftentimes opposes the construction of hydro power, oil pipelines, and high speed rail. It also promotes solar in high latitude areas, completely ignoring the costs of producing all this "green technology" in the first place, and doesn't care about obese people consuming more resources than normal people.
