Virginia Governor declares state of emergency ahead of gun rights rally

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency and has banned firearms on the Capitol grounds in Richmond ahead of a gun rights demonstration planned for next week. The pro-Second Amendment rally is planned on January 20 by the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gun rights supporters are opposed to efforts by Virginia Democrats to pass a slate of gun control bills backed by Northam.

A people who fear their government are oppressed. A people that their government fears are free.

Yeah, banning guns anywhere in America does nothing. It's just digging a hole in the sand, guns will flow in from the surrounding areas. Just like alcohol during prohibition. In fact, banning guns makes people more likely to carry them. Not because they're criminals, but because people don't like being told what to do by someone declaring themselves smarter than them. You want to save some lives from gun crime, you'd be better off banning concealed body armour. Then everyone would wear it, regardless of how uncomfy it is, just to spite you.
