Teacher takes knee during national anthem

A Minnesota teacher knelt during Monday night’s college football championship game. Kelly Holstine, winner of Minnesota’s 2019 ’Teacher of the Year’ award, knelt in protest & said it felt right ’to have a very respectful protest’. The game was attended by President Trump & First Lady Melania Trump. Holstine said she was motivated to kneel in support of ’individuals who are not being supported’.

"I really feel like our country is not serving the needs of all its inhabitants … so many humans right now that are not being given the respect and the rights that they deserve." What a complete bunch of bullshit. I feel sorry for the students of the so-called teacher of the year. Way to go Minnesota.

Sad and pathetic as a teacher your suppose to to be a role model for your students and your doing a terrible job. Is your life in America really that bad? Would you rather live in a middle eastern country where you'd be forced to wear a hijab/burka and be seen half as equal to a man? These liberals don't know what true oppression is.

My mother has devoted herself to students in MN with special needs. She would have been too busy making sure the families of her students had what they needed to go and kneel at a game.

As a teacher myself I find this disgraceful and appalling. If you want to protest then fine but there is a time and place to do it and it isn't during the National Anthem. Minnesota ought to be embarrassed by this teacher's actions. Honestly this isn't even a protest. This is virtue signaling so that the teacher can feel better about themselves. No one was helped in even the slightest way by this disrespectful action.

Why does everyone get so upset when people protest? I don't get it. We supposedly live in a free country but anytime someone protest people lose their minds..

Good for her. It’s nice to see someone exercising their right to a civil protest in a democracy. A sense of Civic Duty seems fairly rare these days.
