Woman jailed for poisoning husband with eye drops

A South Carolina woman has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally poisoning her husband with eye drops. Lana Clayton, 53, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in connection with the July 2018 death of her husband Steven Clayton. Lana had initially said that Steven suffered from vertigo and tumbled down the stairs. Clayton was mad at her allegedly abusive husband.

Her claim of abuse can be investigated.. Ie xrays for broken bones.. Check with friends... But really to poison.. That's low n sneaky

Why is this woman only being charged with manslaughter? Even if she's getting a better deal with a plea at the very least she should get a lighter murder sentence because she did this with intent. Regardless if her husband was abusive that does not justify murder and she could have left at any time.
