Greece elects first female president

Top judge Katerina Sakellaropoulou became the first female president of Greece, elected with a cross-party majority of 261 of the 294 MPs in the parliament. A senior judge, Sakellaropoulou will succeed Prokopis Pavlopoulos, whose five-year term expires in March.
