Transgender soldier plans to sue army for dismissal

South Korea’s first transgender soldier has said she plans to sue the military after it announced it would dismiss her for undergoing gender reassignment surgery. Staff sergeant Byun Hui-su had the operation in Thailand last year. The army said that while it will make efforts to protect soldiers’ human rights and prevent discrimination, the surgery left Byun unable to continue to serve.

Needs constant medical checks and prescriptions, hormone treatment, therapy and a high chance of suicide? They could be the nicest person in the world, but they couldn't be trusted to watch their teams back in enemy territory. They would be a constant wild card and danger to the unit. They need a job where all the care is available to them, not the extremely stressful job of being in the military.

First off, anyone should have their own decency of mind to feel ashamed for calling it a mental dissorder, or questions their right to this job, or their own beliefs. The reason why there are suicides, drug abuse and depression among the transgender people is comments like you all are putting. Second. This person is willing to die to protect your way of life in the military and you are criticizing them because of how they choose to identify themselves? Third. Seriously this is how you would talk to a child that identifies with another gender? They are sick? They need help? That they cannot do jobs of society defined "Normal people". You do know every society defines "normal" different, so your definition is no better than anyone elses. Or do you really believe you are the authority for the human race and eveyone has to agree with you? You would deny others from risking their life to save yours? You don't see every person as equal no matter race, colour. creed or sexual orientation? What happened to all that freedom in the USA?
