Insys founder John Kapoor sentenced to 66 months in prison

Founder of Insys Therapeutics John Kapoor has been sentenced to 66 months in prison for orchestrating an opioid fraud scheme. The scheme involved bribes and kickbacks to physicians who prescribed large amounts of a fentanyl spray to patients who didn’t need the painkiller. The company’s former VP Michael Gurry and national director of sales Richard Simon each received 33 months in prison.
