U.S. Space Force logo prompts comparisons to ’Star Trek’

The design quickly drew comparisons to insignia from Star Trek after it was revealed by U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday afternoon. The Air Force Space Command logo already featured a triangle that looks like the Star Trek communicator badge. But, as noted on Startrek.com, the communicator’s famous shape was a riff on NASA’s work to begin with.

Space Force did it first, travelled back in time and inspired Star Trek. Easy.

"Roasted" by people too stupid to realize their show drew inspiration from NASA for it's Federation faction logo.

If it was Obama they’d be celebrating the very same thing.

Except the Roman numeral (why?), the emblem makes total sense. But since some attach Trump's name to it, mustdie.

The Space Forces logo is based on the Star Trek logo which is based on NASA's logo. So the Space Forces is based on NASA's logo. In conclusion trekkies, shut the fuck up.

It’s actually a mix of the nasa logo and the delta symbol with the Roman numerals on the bottom reading out 2019 which is the year it was approved by congress

“The delta symbol, the central design element in the seal, was first used as early as 1942 by the U.S. Army Air Forces; and was used in early Air Force space organization emblems dating back to 1961. Since then, the delta symbol has been a prominent feature in military space community emblems.”
