At least 18 dead after earthquake strikes Turkey

A 6.8-magnitude earthquake rocked a part of eastern Turkey on Friday, killing at least 18 people and injuring more than 500. Hundreds of residents have been left homeless or with damaged homes. The quake struck Elazig, some 750 kilometres east of the capital Ankara. It was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest with magnitudes 5.4 and 5.1.
