LAPD says flights were grounded when Bryant’s chopper crashed

The LAPD’s Air Support Division was grounded as weather conditions did not meet their ’standard for flying’ at the time that Kobe Bryant’s chopper crashed in California, killing all aboard. Bryant’s helicopter was navigating through foggy conditions when the aircraft went down in the hills of Calabasas.

"When it struck the ground, the helicopter was flying at about 160 knots and descending at a rate of more than 4000 feet per minute, the data showed." That's a CFIT; a 0vis auto into the hillside.
