Law enforcement agencies to be charged by Google for user data requests

Google has decided to charge law enforcement and other government agencies as Google receives a huge amount of legal requests for user data. The company will charge for its compliance and give out a notice that will state the legal process, the type of assistance provided, the amount that should be reimbursed and also the corresponding statutory authority.

If they implement a decently high charge it might slowdown government requests and make them pick and choose which ones to pursue rather than the wide scale fishing expeditions that currently go on.
