US budget deficit to top $1 trillion in 2020 despite strong economy

The US economy will grow at a ’solid’ rate of 2.2% this year but the budget deficit is likely to burst through the $1 trillion barrier, predicted the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. CBO said economic growth will slow to an average annual rate of 1.7% from 2021 to 2030, while inflation and interest rate increases will slow in 2023.
