NASA shutting down Spitzer Space Telescope

One of NASA’s most successful missions, the Spitzer Space Telescope, is coming to an end on Thursday. NASA said that after ’extraordinary years of exploration’, the Spitzer Space Telescope will be turned off on Thursday. Altogether, Spitzer observed 800,000 celestial targets and churned out more than 36 million raw images as part of its $1.4 billion mission.

Space is so beautiful I hope I get to see the colonization of a planet before I die.

I wonder if there is any possibility of private groups taking over these disabled NASA telescopes?
