Moscow rolls out live facial recognition system

Moscow will be introducing live facial recognition cameras which it says will be operating ’on a mass scale’. The surveillance system will have 200,000 cameras across the city out which 175,000 are already in place. A court on Friday will hear a legal challenge filed against the capital’s video surveillance program over privacy fears.

Isn't it intriguing how authoritarian states are embracing this kind of modern hi-tech with open arms. Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, Egypt etc. Setting a terrible pattern for the future. Populations being watched & monitored every waking moment. Much cheaper than a secret police force I guess.
