Airbus to pay record $4bn to settle bribery and corruption probes

Airbus has agreed to pay a fine of $4bn to settle a criminal investigation for bribery with France, Britain and the United States. The record settlement comes after the company was accused of using middlemen to bribe public officials to secure contracts. The deal means Airbus has avoided criminal prosecution that would have risked it being barred from public contracts in the US and EU.
