Pentagon finds flaws in new F-35

The Pentagon has discovered new problems associated with Lockheed Martin’s F-35 fighter jet in its annual review. While there were no issues discovered with the jet’s flying capabilities, numerous other issues were reported, including more than a dozen flagged as ’must-fix’. As of Nov, the plane had 873 software deficiencies flagged. One of the issues was with the accuracy of its 25mm gun.

A plane that has cost billions, doesn't do the job it was intended for can't attack or defend itself...Another win for America's graft ridden military machine.

Miles... If we limited campaign contributions to registered voters in the district of the candidate only.. And $5k maximum in a campaign cycle... Companies couldn't buy politicians like the prostitutes they are. Politicians would have to come into their district and convince voters to help them get elected. It's simple. It's how it's supposed to be.

Alot of times it's the government that causes these problems by not allowing the contractor enough time to "work out the bugs". I once worked for an aerospace and defense contractor who literally had the product go from R&D straight to the assembly line. Sometimes it's politics. The administration wants to get the product up and running for fear the administration my change hands and cancel the contract. Particularly during an election year.

It's new tech, so the fact that they test it, find defects and fix them is positive - the question is only about the rate. How else do you become battle ready, with a magic wand?

Can't blame my dad, he retired from there about 15 yrs ago. I love that he helped build weapons for our national defense but have mixed feelings that his stocks go up when there is threat of conflict He used to vote GOP for that reason, they tend to be pro defense funding, pretty much made him a single issue voter.

I have said it before the F35 is a fighter that is overpriced under capable in it's roles. It is one of the most troubled weapons platforms that has ever been fielded and continues to have major flaws. Officials have tied themselves so tightly to the F-35 that they are unwilling to admit it's basic flaws and either terminate the program or refuse delivery on a majorly flawed project that does not meet the most basic important expectations. They should have dumped it and sought other vendors.

I told you so... pak su-57 is the best multirole fighter in the world currently... dual reactor, better afterburner, better avionics, no AWACS required = better dog fighting which is still the most important aspect of air superiority. Vertical take off is a gimmick. I mean the "lighting" can't even go 40 miles within lightning clouds ffs.. you know we can seed lightning clouds.. not to mention it's not aerodynamic (way too thick) and riddled with computer issues... pilots have extremely hard time maneuvering it and so on... it's really a shame and lockheed should be put on trial for such treason. There should be at least two types of planes dog fight and bomber or just copy the su-57 and save on R&D and keep America great gear

Part of this is because of letting Pajeet write the software for it in C++ rather than Johnny, Chang, or even Jaykwon do it in Ada, like the previous ones
