Justice Dept. will investigate 4 Mississippi prisons after string of deaths

The Justice Department has opened a probe into the Mississippi prison system after a string of inmate deaths in the past few months. The department’s Civil Rights Division will focus on 4 prisons where 15 inmates died in a month and determine whether the state’s department of corrections adequately protects inmates as well as investigate its suicide prevention services and mental health care.
