DHS bans New Yorkers from Global Entry applications, over sanctuary laws

The Department of Homeland Security informed the state of New York Wednesday that it would no longer allow New York residents to apply certain Trusted Traveler Programs, including Global Entry, that offer faster processing for pre-vetted travelers due to provisions in the state’s new ’Green Light Law’ supporting undocumented immigrants.

These federal programs rely on state criminal records. If New York is no longer providing those records, then naturally the fed programs can no longer provide their service to New Yorkers. If the people of New York don't like losing access to these services, then they need to petition Cuomo to allow the DMV to provide criminal records to CBP and ICE once more. There is a price to pay, for harboring criminals.

Actual New Yorker here(the State, not the city) Our driver Liscenes act like the a sudo form of Federal ID used in other countries. So as frustrated as I am, I have to admit that giving them to people regardless of legal status and not sharing that info with the federal government interferes with the federal government ability to verify people for passports and other such programs.

Where are all the right wingers calling for State Rights when its something they dont like? At least be consistent. You are either for States having the right to decide these things regardless.of wgat the federal government wamts or you are against it. I am not an American but I would be against it if I was. States should have leeway but if the federal government makes something illega, its illegal. l do think the law itself is the right move but considering the situation as a whole I would be against it. Same reason I am against a smaller military for my own country: political opinion doesnt matter, we habe an international treaty with NATO.
