Al-Qaeda leader in Yemen, Qasim al-Rimi, killed by US strike

US forces have killed the leader of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Qasim al-Raymi, 41, in Yemen, President Trump announced on Thursday. AQAP had been linked to a series of attacks on Western interests in the 2000s, including the last year’s deadly shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola. He is believed to have been killed by a drone strike last month.
