New offerings by security camera companies feature systems that scan the streets for people with even low-grade fevers or even recognize faces behind masks with the help of AI.

I strongly doubt that the surveillance system can see through a mask to the face; that is exaggeration. But, the surveillance is everywhere and they do know who the phone belongs to, where you live, how you walk, etc.
