Pakistan parliament resolution calls for public hanging for child molesters

Pakistan’s parliament has adopted a nonbinding resolution calling for public hangings of people convicted of sexual abuse and murder of children -- a move that drew condemnation by the opposition and human rights activists. Though a majority of lawmakers approved the resolution, human rights minister Shireen Mazari said it was not sponsored by the government.

I find this punishment meaningless unless the government prioritizes investigation and prosecution of these acts. The fact that child rape is endemic in Pakistan is concerning given how many Pakistani men have immigrated to the UK, and other European nations; the UK itself has been struggling with a massive child rape cover-up for the past several years, perpetrated by Pakistani men.
