Solar Orbiter launched, telescope begins operating

One of the most advanced science missions to study the sun -- the Solar Orbiter -- launched aboard an Atlas V rocket from Florida at 11:03 p.m. EST on Sunday from Cape Canaveral. The Orbiter is a joint project of NASA and the European Space Agency. It will aim cameras and sensors at the sun’s polar regions for the first time. A new telescope in Hawaii also begins taking higher resolution photos.

Definitely need better understanding of how the sun's dynamics work, how it influences it's magnetic fields, how this translates into space weather.
