Trump budget proposes ending public service student loan forgiveness program

The White House’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2021 seeks to end the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which allows government workers, Native American tribal employees and nonprofit workers to earn forgiveness of their student debt after they’ve made 10 years’ worth of payments. The proposal, the administration estimated, would save around $1.9 billion over the course of the year.

Hopefully he also kills student loans being authorized for non-STEM degrees. He should also kill federal funds (taxpayer monies) being used to fund anything non-STEM related, especially gender studies crap.

You non-educated fools on this topic should watch The Patriot Act’s episode on Student Loans, it was eye opening and I fact checked most of the episode. I’m not saying ppl should be released from their studen loan responsibility but the amount of corruption and fucked up shit happening to these young kids is borderline CRIMINAL. Seriously watch that episode and fact check it. Trump is an idiot and swamp just looking to help corrupt loan servicers. The corruption just runs deeper with this clown of a president.

As awful of an idea as giving free handouts to millennials is, I would be okay with him forgiving their debt. If someone doesn’t bail them out (and let’s face it they won’t be paying back those loans themselves), they’ll continue to vote for socialism until our country is rubble.

Stimulate the economy by crushing people with debt and suppressing others from becoming educated👍

I don't like this. I would much rather see a much more strict qualification system put in place for them instead.

Ironic a man who went to a military school than dodged the draft. You'd have thought his training would have been ideal.

I honestly dont understand all the bitching about student loans. go to a state school for 15k a year. even if u get a lower paying degree that pays say 50k thats $4167 a month (before tax). lets say you were making $12 an hour prior. thats $24,960 a year or $2080 a month. 60k of debt would be what, $300 a month payment? so instead making $2080 a month you get like $3800 after making your loan payment. who cares how long you have to pay it, you just improved your situation tremendously. its a great fucking deal if you ask me...

If the PSLF program were ended, you'd see young workers flee public service and non profit work because they're lower paying. Then you'd be stuck with only boomers running every aspect of government bureaucracy.

Not surprising, he wouldn't have any idea what it's like to have to go into debt just to get an a education.
