Boris Johnson set to give go ahead to high speed rail project

British PM Boris Johnson is set to approve a contentious, expensive plan for a high-speed rail line linking London with central and northern England, despite opposition from environmentalists. Johnson is expected to make an announcement Tuesday about the project, known as High Speed 2 or HS2. The first 140-mile (225-kilometer) stretch of the line will link London to Birmingham.

California's high speed rail was going to cost $8B for a run from LA to San Francisco. It's up to $38B and they've cut the design down to a run from Bakersfield to Merced... Big backwater hellholes that nobody wants to live in. Take note UK.
