Virginia House passes assault weapon, magazine size restriction bill

The Virginia House passed House Bill 961, which bans ownership and selling of assault weapons, as well as criminalizing magazines with a capacity higher than 12 rounds. Those found in violation of the law will be subject to up to 12 months in prison and a fine of up to $2,500. The bill is expected to pass in the Virginia Senate and be signed by Gov. Ralph Northam.
