Boy, 9, charged with attempted murder of 5-year-old sister

A nine-year-old Florida boy has been charged with attempted first-degree murder for stabbing his five-year-old sister with a kitchen knife last month. The mother of the children said she left the apartment to get the mail. When she returned, she found the boy stabbing his sister with a kitchen knife. The child told investigators he thought of killing his sister two days before the stabbing.

So sad. Girl released from hospital. Boy hopefully gets locked up in an insane asylum indefinitely. I wonder if he had a father? And what mother goes to the mailbox, then to the neighbor's house to get "sweets for her children"? Sounds to me like she was off turning a trick while her little girl was hunted down like an animal by her sick in the head freak of a brother. Good parenting right there /s.

It might seem like Florida is messed up because of the Florida man. But Florida’s criminal records are public record whereas in a lot of other states they are not public. So for all we know other states have the same or relatable things but we would never know because the public can’t access it.

Wow. That's terrible. I hope Baby sister recovers quickly, and the boy finds some serious therapy for whatever quirk in his brain made him try to murder his sister. Can't judge this mother as I don't know the details, but as a guideline for the young: get educated (both secular and moral), get married, stay married, encourage your future children to do likewise. There is something about single parent homes that just doesn't produce as many well adjusted children as two parent homes. I'm not saying two parent homes never produce psychopaths, or that single parents can't raise children with a good moral compass. Just saying there may be a connection with kids, especially boys, going off the deep end when raised in a matriarchy (of course single dads can do just as bad... but female privilage... most custodial parents are women).

There's a psychological statement that proves humans learn consequences, it is not inherent. "A baby would shoot it's mother with a gun to get more milk" in other words there's a reason we don't leave kids alone. Halloween isn't real life. At his age he would normally have been taught actions have consequences, so it is more likely mum is not there a lot rather than this kid is already a monster at age 9.

Mentally ill people have voices in their heads. Parents/other people don't put the voices there. All they can do is maybe pick up on symptoms. And since kids talk to themselves all the time when playing it might be more any suspicious words they say. Charging the boy can serve more than one purpose. It can strongly illustrate actions = consequences, and could also set him up for more extensive mental health services. I hope his poor little sister recovers fully from her injuries and gets PTSD help. What a sad situation.

Lemme guess... That boy saw thousands of TV shows and movies, or played hundreds of hours of games where people were slashed, shot, tortured and subjected to violence in front of his little 9 year old mind? Contrast that against a child born before TV, where movies and the culture in general, promoted virtue and avoided graphic violence. I've literally seen our nation go from an imperfect but virtuous nation, to a modern Gomorrah in my lifetime.

Why are all these comments toward the boy getting help. The mum needs help. She raised the boy.

Woh hey now. Yes of course that’s horrible for the girl but this is a 9 year old. Send him off for mental evaluation and whatnot but charged with attempted murder?? Sounds more like the parent(s) are more at fault.
