US charges four Chinese military hackers in Equifax hack

The US has charged four Chinese military hackers in the 2017 breach of the Equifax credit reporting agency. Calling it one of the ’largest data breaches in history’, Attorney General William Barr said the indictment charges four members of the Chinese Liberation Army. An estimated 147 million people had information, including Social Security numbers, compromised by the breach.

Good. Equifax has been fined for their poor security that allowed the break in. Now I'm glad were calling out the burglars. For too long we've been pussyfooting around with China when they do crap like this. I'm not saying we need to go to war over it, but the world needs to know the price of doing business with China.

Ironically, Nixon opened trade with China on the premise they'd embrace capitalism, but instead they move to communist based state capitalism. Simultaneously, we move away from free market capitalism and towards an alternative form of socialism called crony capitalism.

Foreign actors. Accessing confidential records of Americans (including military members) Not charging them with espionage?

Equifax is definitely guilty by being sloppy not bothering to patch the software for known vulnerabilities. They 100% knew what kind of data is at stake. Not denying the guilt of these 4 and the CCP, but I would not expect anything else from the Internet - if not China then Russia, etc.

Got nothing better to do while on countrywide lockdown. I guess they haven't realized that the PRC is allowing porn through the firewall at the moment.
