’Throat of Fire’ volcano showing early signs of collapse

Scientists have warned that one of the most active and dangerous volcanoes in South America is at a risk of suffering a partial collapse. The researchers suggest that recent activity has destabilized the western flank of Tungurahua. The volcano has been frequently active since 1999, when eruptions forced the evacuation of around 25,000 people. This collapse led to a landslide.
