Utah’s state Senate votes unanimously to decriminalize polygamy

Utah’s state Senate has voted unanimously to decriminalize polygamy among consenting adults. Under current laws, anyone found to have multiple spouses could face up to five years in prison. The bill cleared the Republican controlled Senate with a vote of 29-0. It now moves to the Utah House of Representatives, where it is likely to face greater resistance.

I predicted this slippery slope. I could not predict self-marriage. Next, the goats.

iirc, Utah had to ban polygamy in order to be accepted into the union.

In all fairness I don’t understand why polygamy is an offense. Victimless crimes shouldn’t be

I say let them. polygamy is its own punishment.

The government should not be involved in determining what consenting adults do. Period. That said, I don't understand why any woman would want to share the resources of a guy... or responsibilities of raising someone else's kids. And don't get me started on polyandry... that just makes no sense.

And the slippery slope continues. It is surprising to see this from Republicans though.
