Bail reform in Chicago appears to have increased crime, suggests study

Two University of Utah professors have concluded that pretrial releases lead to increased crimes, calling into question the bail reform measures. Prof. Paul Cassell and Prof. Richard Fowles re-analyzed data on increased pretrial releases in Cook County, Illinois (Chicago area), concluding that the number of pretrial releasees who committed violent crimes increased by about 33%.
