Huge locust outbreak, threatening famine, spreads to the Congo

Swarms of locusts have been spreading In East Africa and are now spreading. Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia are three of the most affected countries, but they have been seen in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar, and along the coast of Iran. The U.N.’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says a food crisis could be looming and is seeking $62 million in additional funds.
