Paper urged by Wall Street Journal reporters to apologize for racist headline

According to the Washington Post, a letter has been signed by dozens of reporters at the Wall Street Journal as they protested against the refusal of the newspaper to apologize for a headline which was deemed racist by the Chinese government. The headline that appeared in an opinion column in the newspaper read- ’China is the real sick man of Asia’.

"China Is the Real Sick Man of Asia" -- that is racist?! OK, unless this is a translation failure that headline is pretty benign. Seems like this whole thing has more to do with the Chinese government being completely unable to tolerate anything that even hints at a negative opinion of China. And the tourist bureau telling Chinese people not to visit the US, think that has pretty much happened courtesy of the bat flu.
