On Wednesday, the number of new coronavirus infections inside China was for the first time surpassed by fresh cases elsewhere in the world. Besides Italy and Iran which have recorded cases, Brazil confirmed LATAM’s first infection and the infection was also detected in Pakistan, Sweden, Norway, Greece, Romania and Algeria. Australia’s PM said the ’world will soon enter a pandemic phase’.

The common flu has a death rate between 9% and 13%, while it seems the coronavirus has a death rate between 2% and 3.25%. Why is this new illness being so overhyped by governments and the media? I'd PREFER the coronavirus over the common flu based on all available data.
