New Mexico governor signs red flag gun law

New Mexico’s governor signed a law that would allow courts to order the temporary seizure of firearms from individuals deemed to be a danger to themselves or others. The law will allow law enforcement officers to petition a court to order the temporary seizure of firearms from an at risk individual if they can provide evidence that the individual presents a danger to themselves or others.

Sheriffs are elected by the people, they act in the best interest of the people, and they legally don't have to enforce tyrannical laws. Fuck off, Karen.

So personal property may be seized without the commission or attempted commission of a crime? This is basically some pre-crime nonsense.

Shall not be infringed. Next these communists will be outlawing and red flagging spoons as spoons make you fat. Stop voting for and funding communists then wondering how the fuck did we end up back under a communist monarchy.

How do we decide who is flagged? If we go by Switzerland, anyone who has a mental disorder (depression included) or has committed a crime, is barred from owning a weapon. That said, they're a much smaller nation and crime rates are low. If we take a look a crime in the US, what is encompassed? Jaywalking? Fighting back against a bully? A speeding ticket? It's a fine line to decide what bars a person from owning a weapon. Red flag laws could easily be used to disarm many, many people.

Red flag laws really won't do much to curb gun violence. They will be a me too for the gun owners. All you have to do is make an alegation, or submit a notice to law enforcement...due process, civil rights, and constitutional rights out the window. I'm not a gun nut, but this is just wrong.

This law will require law enforcement to go into situations where they know they may likely need to use deadly force. Boo

I'm ok with this. I'd rather have it test run in one state than the entire country. Let them see why it's a bad idea.
