Court dismisses conservative nonprofit’s YouTube censorship appeal

An appeals court rejected a lawsuit claiming that YouTube illegally censors conservative content. Prager University (PragerU), claimed YouTube and its parent company, Google, violated PragerU’s First Amendment right of free speech by designating some of its videos for restricted mode. A three-judge panel dismissed the lawsuit, saying that YouTube is a private platform and not a government entity.

Censorship on the internet has become an increasing problem. It shouldn’t be left up to these companies to determine what content can be viewed or even demonetized just because they don’t like the content. Of course there’s exceptions. This is why some people are calling for these companies to become public utilities
