Senate passes ’rip and replace’ bill

The US Senate voted unanimously to pass the Secure and Trusted Telecommunications Networks Act. The bill bans purchase of telecom equipment from embattled Chinese manufacturers like Huawei and ZTE. It also includes $1 billion in funding to help smaller rural telecoms ’rip and replace’ existing equipment from specific manufacturers.

Not sure how others feel, but this whole China spying on the world thing seems pretty scary. Maybe I just watched too much Person of Interest.

Seems like a good idea, would be nice if the same happened for things like antibiotics and other important items.

Crony Capitalism = government subsidizing stupid mistakes made by phone carriers who bought cheap Chinese products that are cheap because they copy technology that American companies spent tens of millions to develop. This rewards stupidity and greed.
