Roughly 40% of US adults are obese, 10% severely, CDC survey shows

About 4 in 10 American adults are obese, and nearly 1 in 10 is severely so, according to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control. The proportion of females aged 20 and older who suffer from severe obesity was 11.5% in 2017-2018, compared with 6.9% for men. Black adults had the highest prevalence at 13.8% while Asian adults had the lowest at 2%.
