US consumer spending slows in January

US consumer spending rose less than expected in January. As per the Commerce Department, consumer spending, which accounts for more than two-thirds of U.S. economic activity, increased 0.2% last month. Data for December was revised higher to show consumer spending rising 0.4%. Personal income jumped 0.6% in January, the most since February 2019.
