Iran releases 54,000 prisoners to combat coronavirus spread

As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in jails, Iran has freed 54,000 prisoners. An Iranian judiciary spokesman said the inmates were granted furlough, which means they are supposed to return at some point. The prisoners also had to post bail.
