19 dead in Tennessee as tornadoes leave behind trail of destruction

The state of Tennessee was rocked by tornadoes, with nearly 19 people being reported dead. At least 40 buildings were severely damaged, and one of the tornadoes caused severe damage in downtown Nashville. Courts, transit lines, the state Capitol, schools and an airport were closed, and some polling stations which suffered damages had to be shifted, too.

I live in Cookeville, where most of the deaths from this storm occured. The numbers are now above 20, and the latest victim is a 4 year old girl... The storm came into town within minutes after leaving the Nashville/MT. Juliet area, and the tornado sirens came on too late. The tornado tore through the lower income areas of Putnam County, not leaving much behind. It looks like our town was bombed. The university has shut down for the day, as well as public schools, but most businesses are still open. Traffic all around town is terrible, and I can still hear sirens in the distance. I've never seen such a large part of a community destroyed like this.. Nashville got hit badly as well, but their damage is mostly cultural. Hundred year old buildings were devastated in Germantown.
