Virginia bans conversion therapy for LGBTQ children

Virginia has become the first southern US state to outlaw the practice of conversion therapy for LGBTQ children. Conversion therapy aims to try to change sexual orientation or gender identity. Gov. Ralph Northam signed into law a ban on licensed therapists and counselors from subjecting minors to the practice. The legislation passed the Virginia General Assembly earlier this year.

Wow Virginia did something smart. Haven't said that for a while.

Is this really a thing? I mean as it gets described in media does conversion therapy actually happen. The closest thing I've seen is a kid thinks he's gay, the parents freak out abed being him to a councilor or pastor. They talk while. Then it doesn't really matter because some ppl don't know what they are into they've gone though their experimental 20's. Why is it so hard to let kids figure this out themselves. They are kids. They don't know much. What they do know will be challenged and likely disproved in the next 2-3yrs. Keep them from doing anything that they will be unable to fix later. Give them advice and guidance along the way. I'd rather a person decide if they are gay or straight after some experiences and a serious relationship or two than to be pushed one way or another before they've had more than a crush. Am I alone in this idea?
