Indian deity’s funds blocked as bank collapses

With the collapse of a bank in India, devotees of Lord Jagannath (the Hindu lord of the universe) at the temple in Puri are worried about the 5.45 billion Indian Rupees deposited in the deity’s name. ’It is illegal as well as unethical to deposit the lord’s funds in a private bank’, said a servitor demanding a probe. The money was allegedly kept in the private bank to earn a higher interest rate.
