Carbon emissions fall as electricity producers move away from coal: Study

As per a study, global CO2 emissions from the power sector fell by 2% last year, the biggest fall since 1990, as countries began to turn their backs on coal-fired power plants. Coal generation in the US and the EU has halved since 2007, and last year collapsed by almost a quarter in the EU, and by 16% in the US, even as China’s reliance on coal climbed to make up half the world’s coal generation.
