Dow drops 7.8%, worst fall since 2008

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended Monday registering the worst daily fall since 2008. The index dropped 2,013.7 points or 7.79%. The S&P 500 plunged 7.6% to 2,746.56. A free-fall in oil prices and growing fears around the fallout from the coronavirus gripped the markets in uncertainty. Oil stocks faced the brunt - Chevron was down nearly 11%. Other sectors which were routed included banking.
