Mexican women hold ’A Day without Us’ to protest violence and macho culture

Millions of Mexican women stayed away from work and schools on Monday to join a second day of marches to protest against violence and macho culture. An eerie quiet fell on normally bustling streets. The wildcat strike, dubbed ’a day without us,’ is meant to show the importance of women to society. It followed a series of massive protests on Sunday to mark International Women’s Day.

"A day without us". Is this meant to be a threat, because it sounds like a pretty sweet deal!

Is that why traffic was so great on Monday?? I wondered if there was a holiday or something I missed. Wow, that need to stay home more often, seriously got home 20 minutes sooner, it was fantastic. Enough of them must live in Phoenix to make a difference.
